Peterborough, NH Albert E. Roy, 91, of Peterborough, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2016 at Rivermead, after a period of failing health. He was born on March 11, 1925 in Jaffrey, the son of Clement Roy and Cedulie (Demers) Roy. Mr. Roy was raised in Jaffrey and attended local schools. He served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII with the United States Army and was involved with the occupation of Japan. He owned and operated Roy's Market in Peterborough for 49 years and Little Roy's, which he purchased in 1972. In 2005 Mr. Roy sold both businesses to his nephew, Peter Robinson. Mr. Roy was active in the Peterborough community having served on the Boards of The Peterborough Co-Op bank and Downtown 2000. He was also a trustee of the Village Savings Bank, and was named Citizen of the Year in 1997. He was a communicant of St. Peter's Church since 1956 and a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Roy enjoyed playing tennis, fly-fishing and cross country skiing. He loved to travel and shared many adventures with this wife traveling in the United States, Europe and Asia. Mr. Roy is survived by his loving wife of more than 67 years, Rolande (Caouette) Roy of Peterborough, his sister Germaine Robinson of Jaffrey, and many loving nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11:00am at Divine Mercy Parish, 12 Church Street, Peterborough, NH. Father Michael Taylor will be the Celebrant. A reception will follow at Divine Mercy Parish.
