Albert "Lester" Stevens Jr

Sharon, NH Albert Lester Stevens, 99, of Sharon died at his home on December 13, 2015 after a period of failing health. Albert was born on May 27, 1916 in New Sharon, ME, the son of Albert and Mabel (Savage) Stevens. Albert moved to the Peterborough and Jaffrey area in 1938 and arrived just after the major hurricane. After helping with repairs and clean up from the hurricane, he went to work for Bean Simonds Box in Jaffrey, where he worked for the next 17 years. Albert then began a maintenance position at Macdowell Colony and he would retire from there 22 years later. Albert loved hunting and fishing. He was a hunting guide in Maine for many years. Albert is survived by his daughters Alberta True of Hampton, NH and Jane Huston of Sharon; his son Dennis Stevens of Jay, ME; his 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Pearl (Young) Stevens in 2004 and his son Lt. Commander Wayne Stevens, USN, in 1977. Visiting hours will be held on Friday December 18, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Monadnock Congregational Church, 120 Wilton Road, Peterborough, NH In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Albert's name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, www.cff.org 114 Perimeter Road, Nashua, NH 03063 or to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org
