Beatrice Gustavson

Hancock, NH Beatrice (Bea) Gustavson, 87, of Peterborough and formerly of Hancock, died at Monadnock Community Hospital, on January 19, 2015 after a short illness. Bea was born on May 28, 1927 in New York, NY the daughter of John Edward Nygard and Jenny (Wickstrom) Nygard. Bea grew up and attended schools in Bronx, NY and it was in NY where she met and married her beloved husband of 63 years, George Gustavson. Together, she and George moved to Pleasantville, NY in 1960 to raise their two children and in 1980 they retired to Hancock where they built their house and had resided until George's death in June 2014. Bea enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, needlepoint and sewing. She was a member of The Hancock Woman's Club, The Hancock Hospital Auxiliary for Monadnock Community Hospital and a parishioner of The First Congregational Church of Hancock.She will be remembered as a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. Bea is survived by her daughter Janice and her husband James DeGrazia of Cranberry Township, PA and her son James and his wife Gale Gustavson of Morristown, VT. She will be missed by her grandson David Gustavson of Burlington, VT, and her granddaughter Jamie Gustavson of Brooklyn, NY. She is also survived by her sister Jean Forss of Stewart, FL and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on February 7, 2015 at 3:00PM at The First Congregation Church of Hancock, 47 Main Street, The Reverend Judith Copeland will officiate. A reception will follow immediately in the Vestry. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Bea's name to The American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311 or The American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73123.
