Beverly A. Harris

July 28, 1944 — October 6, 2024

Beverly A. Harris, age 80 of Peterborough, NH, passed away on October 6, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on July 28, 1944, in Boston, MA, the younger of fraternal twin daughters. Beverly’s life was marked by her unwavering determination and “always moving forward, no regrets” approach that left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

After getting her RN from Boston Children’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1964, Beverly embarked on working as a pediatric nurse. But she quickly realized her life’s passion was the law. She graduated from Ursuline College in 1975 and earned her law degree from Cleveland State University Marshall School of Law in 1978.

Beverly spent 30 years as a medical malpractice defense attorney. She was a brilliant litigator, winning 85% of the more than 100 cases she took to jury trial over the course of her long career.  Beverly began her legal career at the prominent Cleveland law firm, Gallagher, Sharp, Fulton and Norman, and was one of the first women to become a managing partner at a firm in Cleveland. She also served as in-house counsel for Kaiser Permanente while at Gallagher, Sharp. In 2008, she retired as a partner from Western Hurd and moved to New Hampshire to be closer to her family. But she didn’t stay retired for long, entering politics and serving as a Selectman for the Town of Marlborough, NH.

Beyond her professional achievements, Beverly was an avid gardener, voracious reader, self-professed chocolate lover, and passionate baker and cook, delighting her family by making her famous tomato “gravy” (sauce) for birthday celebrations and family gatherings.

Beverly is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Robert Harris; daughter Amy Lind and son-in-law Kevin; her cherished granddaughter Sophia Lind and “grandpuppy” Bailey; her brother, Conrad Fagone and sister-in-law Jeannette; and sister-in-law Miriam Allman.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Barbara Cottone, and her parents, Charles and Josephine Fagone (DiMatteo).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 1pm at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Beverly’s memory to the American Cancer Society .
