Brenda Allen, 66, of Bennington died on February 16, 2017 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Brenda was born in Manchester on December 22, 1950 the daughter of Carlton Behlman and Alice (Worcester) Behlman. After graduating high school and receiving her Associates degree from Becker Jr. College in Worcester, MA, Brenda began a long career in hospitality. She enjoyed the warm seasons and held waitress and hostess jobs in Nantucket in the summer and Key West in the winter. She settled back in the Monadnock Region more than 25 years ago and continued working in the restaurant industry at several local restaurants including Powder Mill Pond and Red Maples. Brenda was an avid gardener and loved plants. She ran a green house in Antrim for many years and was a member of the NH Orchid Society. In addition to her love for being outside gardening, Brenda enjoyed feeding and watching all types of birds. Brenda found the most solace by the water. She enjoyed spending time at the beach and by the ocean. She spent many summers kayaking on local ponds and lakes. Brenda is survived by her daughter Lindsey Ramsey and her partner Joy Roy of Antrim; her sisters, Debra Patnaude of PA, Carla Stowell and her husband Mark of MA, and Linda Bryer and her husband Tod of Antrim. She will also be missed by her dear friends Janet Willis of Hancock and Dawn Baybutt of Bennington and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Brenda is predeceased by her sister Paula Ramsey. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Brenda's name to Oncology Department, Monadnock Community Hospital; Patient Comfort Care, 452 Old Street Road, Peterborough, NH 03458.
