Carl Ingelstrom of Peterborough, NH died suddenly at his home on Saturday, August 24, 2024. He was 89 years old.
He was born October 24, 1934 in Peterborough, NH to Ivar Olaf Ingelstrom and Berta Wetterlind. Graduating with the class of 1952 at Peterborough High School, he then went on to graduate from the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences. He was a member of AGR, the agricultural fraternity.
Carl then served in the US Army for several years. In 1960, Carl married Patricia Aytoun. He then returned to UNH to complete a master’s degree in agricultural economics. In 1966, Carl moved with his young family to upstate New York where he worked as the county agent for Cornell University and then on to Albany, NY where he was employed by the Department of Environmental Conservation.
In 1990, Carl retired and returned to his beloved family farm in Greenfield, NH. A consummate gentleman and lifelong learner, there wasn’t a discussion that Carl couldn’t contribute to in a thoughtful way. His love of his antique tractors, great wit and affable nature was well known throughout the community. He could be a bit of a socialite and always so well dressed. A neighbor, Pedro, confirmed recently that Carl “was never an old man.”
Carl is survived by wife and life companion, Patricia (Aytoun), his daughter, Melissa Carson, his daughter Juliana Morgan and her husband, Steve. He’s also survived by grandchildren, Eddy (Jessica) Morgan, Carrie (Aaron) Barfels, Bob (Jamie) Morgan and 8 great grandchildren. He leaves behind 2 nieces and 1 nephew, Jeri (Rick) Canfield, Gilda (Ed) Goodrich and Jim (Dawn) Smith. The list of his surviving friends is quite long and so appreciated.
A memorial service will be held at Monadnock Country Club in Peterborough on Friday, August 30 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greenfield Historical Society, 828 Forest Rd., Greenfield, NH 03047.
