Clayton "Abe" Philbrick, III, 73, of Francestown, died peacefully at his home and surrounded by his family on March 19, 2015.
He was born on January 31, 1942 in Hillsborough, the son of Clayton Philbrick, Jr. and Lucy (Clark) Philbrick. Abe was a lifelong resident of Francestown. He worked for the Francestown Highway Department for more than 20 years until his retirement in 2007. He also worked as a mechanic for several auto shops, including Abe's Auto Repair, which he owned and operated. He was passionate about working on cars and could fix just about any car. He enjoyed fishing and was a collector of a variety of items. He was married to Dorothy "Dot" (Perkins) Philbrick for nearly 40 years until her death in 2013.
Abe is survived by his children Beverley Perkins of Belgrade, ME, Carol Barss of Wear, NH, Clayton Philbrick, IV of Francestown and Jodi Wells of Francestown. He will be dearly missed by his 8 grandchildren and his 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son Alfred Philbrick in 1975, his grandson Keegan Wells in 1997, and his brother Charlie Philbrick in 2002. A graveside service will be held in the spring and will be announced at a later date.
