Dennis Rossiter

Dennis Laurence Rossiter passed away unexpectedly on June 16th at 80 years of age at home with his wife, Alison Rossiter, at his side. Dennis was born January 16, 1942, in Jersey City NJ the son of Laurence Edward Rossiter and Frances Theresa Hayes.

In his youth, Dennis moved with his family from Jersey City to Warwick Neck, RI, to Needham MA, ultimately graduating from Sterling School, in Craftsbury, Vermont in 1960. There he played catcher on the school baseball team as Number 9, in tribute to his idol, Ted Williams. His lifelong passion for his team, the Boston Red Sox, continued throughout his lifetime.

He next attended University of Vermont, as a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and then further chose to enlist in the Navy, serving in Okinawa, Japan, and received the National Defense Service Medal and an Honorable release.

Dennis then went on to receive a degree from Boston University's College of Communication in 1969.  From there, he launched a career in advertising in public communications, starting on the agency side with Brodeur & Partners. He then continued his advertising career as an executive on the corporate side with Digital Equipment, Exxon, Wang Laboratories, Prime Computer and then retiring his public relations career from IBM through the high-tech heyday.

Dennis then went on to obtain his real estate license in New Hampshire, working for Caldwell Banker, and continued engaging with people who appreciated his comfortable and pleasant demeanor. During his time, he participated in the 2014 proposed Hancock Meetinghouse Restoration Project and a variety of land trust and similar engagements. As an active member of the community, he enjoyed many days at his “Lake House” fishing, reading, and cheering on his beloved Boston Red Sox.

Survived by his wife, Alison Malone, with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May 2022, his sisters Carol Bonnar, Nancy Mobley and her husband, Richard, of Westport MA, his sister-in-law, Kathleen Flammia of Walpole NH, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of his life will be held from 1PM-3PM on Sunday, July 17th, 2022 at the Harris Center, 83 Kings Hwy, Hancock NH 03449.
