Doris Ruth Mann

Doris Ruth Mann, 85, of Peterborough, died at the home of her son and daughter in law, Ted and Lauren Mann, on September 6, 2014 after a period of failing health. Doris was born in Johnsonburg, PA the daughter of John B Freeburg and Ruth (Anderson) Freeburg on July 23, 1929. As a gifted musician, Doris attended St. Louis Institute of Music in the late 1940s after graduating from the Johnsonburg High School. She was a pianist and a soprano. Doris made sure her children were well educated musically, but also kept a private voice and piano studio and gave lessons to many throughout her life. Her passion for music extended to her grandchildren. Doris lived in Peterborough and Keene for almost 40 years after spending over 20 years as an Officer's wife in the United States Army. This took her from PA to Okinawa and throughout much of the US. As a woman of great faith she gave tirelessly to her churches in different ministries including the ministry of music. During the 1980's she worshipped at Trinity Evangelical Church in Peterborough and was actively involved in the choir and playing piano. During her many years in Keene she was a devoted parishioner at Trinity Lutheran church. There she volunteered at Trinity Christian Academy as well as singing in the choir, playing the organ and piano. In her last year back in Peterborough, she attended Monadnock Congregational Church with her son and daughter in law. Part of her time in Keene was spent working for the Bragdon, Berkson and Klein law firm on Court Street. Doris is survived by her son and daughter in law, Ted & Lauren Mann, of Peterborough and her daughter Tracy Mann of Troy, NY. Her twin brother, Donald C. Freeburg, her five grandchildren, her great grandchild, and her five step-grandchildren will also miss her. She is predeceased by her brother Norman Freeburg. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 10 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord St, Peterborough. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, September 12, at 11:00 am at the Monadnock Congregational Church, 120 Wilton Road in Peterborough. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sand Hill Road, Peterborough. Pastor Paul Gard will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made in Doris' name to the Monadnock Congregational Church, 120 Wilton Road, Peterborough, NH.
