Dorothy Rogers

March 30, 1935 — August 19, 2023

Dorothy M. “Nanny” Rogers, 88 of Peterborough, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family and caring staff at Summerhill Assisted Living on August 19, 2023.  She was born in Nashua, NH on March 30, 1935, the daughter of George and Marion (Leahy) Latour.

The first born of a large family, Dot lived, worked and helped raise her siblings in Nashua NH where she attended schools. As a young girl, she played the clarinet and the saxophone. Throughout her life she found tremendous joy in music of almost any kind. In her adult life, she worked at Hitchner Manufacturing Company where she met the love of her life, Kenneth H. Rogers. The couple were married on Valentines Day 1975. They moved to Peterborough to be closer to Ken’s growing business, Peterborough Tool Co. Together they raised their daughters, had a vacation home in Delray Beach Florida and built an additional home on the Cape where Dorothy took great pride in her flower gardens. She was a very skilled seamstress, making many lovely gowns, dresses, doll outfits and quilts. Each one labeled “Made with tender loving care by Nanny”, to be cherished by their recipients. Holidays at Dot’s home were filled with joy and the table was always filled with an abundance of delicious foods and baked goods as she was an exceptional cook and baker. Fruit jams were another specialty of both Nanny and Pop. Together they would can pints upon pints to be shared and enjoyed by friends and family everywhere. At any family gathering or event, you could be certain to find Nan with her camera. So many wonderful memories captured and shared with love. Dot also proudly earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Nathaniel Hawthorne College in 1982. As mentioned above, Dorothy sincerely loved music. She would always sing along, whistle to her birds, hum and tap a foot to whatever tune was playing nearby right up until her last days on this earth. May she continue to sing with the angels in the company of her loved ones in heaven.

Dorothy is survived by her brothers Joseph Latour (Mansfield, TX), Charles Marcouillier (Thorndike, ME), and sisters Nancy Gordon-Beyer (Lake Worth, FL), Geraldine Phillips (Jewett City, CT), Donna Pierce (Boynton Beach, FL), Claire Richard (Stoddard, NH), her daughter Brenda Brown (Jaffrey, NH), Grandchildren, Tatum Worcester and her husband Matthew (Dublin, NH), Stephen Pacsay and his wife Kathy (Wolfboro, NH), Heather Wragg and her husband Ryan (Peterborough, NH), Rachel Legsdin (Exeter, NH), Nathan Legsdin and his fiancée Elizabeth Giacomantonio (Dayton, ME) and Brystal Knight (Fayetteville, NC), eleven great grandchildren; Codie Harnish, Alison and Jocelyn Worcester, Hannah, Adaya, Caleb, and Tyler Pacsay, Elias and Aubrey Niemela, Rowan Legsdin, 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
