Douglas James Riley, 57, of Sharon, passed away at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on November 1, 2019. He was born in Leominster, MA on December 19, 1961 the son of Herbert and Rosamond Gene Riley.
Douglas is one of eight children. When he was eight years old, his family packed up and moved to Florida. He grew up in Plant City and went to school there. After school, he worked for Fleetwood Homes as a cabinet supervisor. He always talked about his time with his beloved grandfather. When he turned 23, he moved back to Massachusetts, where he left behind many of his childhood friends and family that were dear to him. He worked hard when he got back. He attended Wentworth College and received a degree in electrical engineering. Douglas’ real passion was pipe fitting and welding. He started a career at Donovan Engineering, where he worked with a great group of people, many of whom became lifelong friends. Anyone who knew Douglas found out that he had an amazing sense of humor and was the most quick witted man they had ever met.
Douglas always said that he was born to be a “grandfather” so when, one by one, his grandchildren were born, it was all he could talk about. He was a loving grandfather who would do anything for his grandkids. Douglas’ other passions in life, besides his family and friends, were fishing and rooting for the Miami Dolphins, win or lose!
In addition to his wife of 30 years, Teresa Wynne Riley of Sharon, he is survived by his three sons, Justin Sazonick and Timothy Sazonick of Nashua, and Shawn Riley of Florida. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Mackenzie Sazonick, Ella Sazonick, and Alexander Riley.
