Eileen C. Taft

Peterborough, NH Eileen Carroll Taft, 91, of Peterborough, died on October 8, 2016 at Rivermead Lifecare Center after a period of failing health. Eileen was born in Everett, MA on May 8, 1925 the daughter of William J. Carroll and Clara (McIntyre) Carroll. Eileen grew up in Everett, MA and graduated from Girls Catholic High School in Malden MA in 1943. She was enrolled in the Cadet Core program at Massachusetts General Hospital where she graduated from the School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1946. Eileen moved to Peterborough, NH in 1947 and spent 40 years as Head Nurse/RN at Monadnock Community Hospital until her retirement in 1987. She enjoyed sewing, being with her family, traveling and spending winters in Naples FL with her late husband Alexander M. Taft Eileen is survived by her son William C. Taft and his wife Barbara of Medford, OR, and her daughters, Mary M. Taft of Hooksett and Kimberley T. Layman and her husband Ken of Nantucket, MA. She will also be missed by her three grandchildren, Hannah, Kyler, and Lillian Taft and her brother-in-law Robert Taft of Peterborough as well as many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at a later date and is private for the family.
