Elaine F. Healy, 90, of Peterborough NH died on November 2, 2021 at RiverMead with family by her side. Married for 57 years, she was the beloved wife of Richard T. Healy (predeceased and formerly of Jamaica Plain, MA) and the loving mother of six children. Mary-Anne Lopez of Vero Beach, FL; Anne-Marie Frink and husband, Kevin of Wells Maine; Michael Richard Healy of Hancock, NH; Ruth-Ellen Abdulmassih and husband Antoine, of San Francisco, CA; Julie-Beth Bonvie and husband, Tad of Bedford, NH; and Philip Burkinshaw Healy and wife Lee-Ann, of Naples, Florida along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born on June 16, 1931, she was the daughter of J. Leo and Anna M. Burkinshaw. Elaine is survived by three sisters: Joyce Sullivan of Wakefield, MA; Diane Huggard of Vernon CT; and Laurel McDonough of Marblehead, Ma.
Elaine was graduated from St. Joseph’s Institute and St. Mary’s Girls High School in Lynn, MA and Chandler School for Women in Boston, MA.
After relocating from Swampscott, MA to Hancock, NH the family established “Healy Husky Haven” and her husband and the children competed in the sport of Sled Dog racing for 10 years.
They moved to Peterborough after 34 years and opened and operated “Our Town Inn”.
Elaine was an active parishioner of Divine Mercy Parish.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 1:30 to 2:30 at Divine Mercy Parish, 12 Church Street, Peterborough, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2:30. Elaine will be buried alongside her husband at St. Peter’s Cemetery immediately following Mass.
In lieu of flowers , memorial gifts may be made to the RiverMead Residents Association to support the phenomenal selfless staff during the Holiday Season (2021 Employees Holiday Appreciation Fund) who treated Elaine as a member of their family.
