Peterborough, NH Emma (Becker) Peglow passed away peacefully at Summerhill Assisted Living on Saturday, October 11, 2014 in the early evening. She will be missed by many, but has gone on to a better place of rest in the arms of the Lord. She did not make it to 100, but was close. She would have been 99 this year and was long overdue for her reward in heaven. Emma was born on November 24, 1915 in Clara City, MN. One of her favorite expressions was, "I arrived just in time for lunch and haven't missed a meal since." Emma was the third of 10 children born to Albert and Heilke (Dannen) Becker. Clara City is a small farming community and Emma attended a one room country school house for eight years. She loved school and history was one of her favorite subjects. She enjoyed reading books about history throughout her life. She met Walter Peglow at a 4th of July picnic and several years later they were married on September 25, 1935. The union was blessed with two children; Luverne Peglow and Carol (Peglow) Farnham. Emma and Walter made the decision in 1942 to better their life and moved the family to California. Walter became an overhead crane operator for a local steel company. Emma worked at various small manufacturing shops. Walter and Emma were active in their church and for many years enjoyed bowling. Walter passed away in October 1988. Emma kept busy with enjoying her grandchildren, church activities and hobbies of crocheting, embroidery, and plastic craft. Over the years she made many doilies, pot holders, blankets, decorative items, tissue box covers, dish towels, pillow cases and the like for family and friends. In 2004 Emma moved to NH with her daughter Carol and son-in-law Bradley and shortly thereafter became a resident of Summerhill Assisted Living. She is survived by her son, Luverne (Annette) Peglow of Golden Valley, AZ, daughter Carol (Bradley) Farnham of Peterborough, NH; four grandchildren - David (Kimberly) Farnham of Amherst, NH, Shannon Stagg of Centreville, MD, Timothy Peglow of Tustin, CA, Laura Peglow of Tustin,CA; seven great grandchildren - Faith Farnham, Emma Farnham, Wiley Stagg, Braden Stagg, Samantha Vaughan, Chance Wilder, Madison Wilder; sister, Cora Heller of Port Charlotte, FL and brother, George Becker of Clara City, MN; plus numerous nieces and nephews. A visiting hour will be held at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Final internment will be at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, CA.
