Eric A. Heinonen

March 26, 1951 — December 13, 2015

Peterborough, NH Eric Armas Heinonen, 64, of Peterborough, died unexpectedly at his home on December 13, 2015. Eric was born in Nashua on March 26, 1951 the son of Andrew Heinonen and Sylvia (Jaatinen) Heinonen. Eric grew up and attended schools in the Monadnock area and served his country in The United States Navy. He moved to Worcester and was a dedicated Special Police Office on the Worcester Police Department for 15 years. After his retirement he moved back to the Monadnock area where he resided in Peterborough for the past 16 years. Eric was a well read, self educated man who could discuss any topic at length with anyone he met, and did so, often. Eric liked fixing and tinkering with things, and could fix just about anything electrical. He was in the process of repairing his boat "Gullamiese" (Fisherman), so that she would be sea worthy and ready to take him fishing wherever his heart desired. He enjoyed deep sea fishing with his brother and best friend Terry. They would stock their freezers with fresh fish after just one trip out to sea. He also enjoyed building model cars and airplanes in his free time. Eric was a man of strong faith, he loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them. Eric is survived by his daughters; Heather Lebel and her husband Christopher of North Brookfield, MA, Susan Heinonen - Lynde and Dennis Lynde of Camano Island, WA, and Sarah Heinonen of Three Rivers, MA. He will also be greatly missed by his brother Karl Heinonen of Lyndeborough, his niece Allison Sylvia Krouetz and her husband James of Marlborough, his great niece Sylvia Janeway Kreutz of Marlborough, his cousin Mathew Guidmore of Nashua and his lifelong best friend Terry Dawson of Wilton. A service will be announced in the spring and will be held at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, MA.
