Francis "Frank" Morrill, Jr.

Francis “Frank” C. Morrill, Jr. of Peterborough, NH passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the age of 59.

He was born in Winchester, MA son of the late Francis and Dolores (Barreda) Morrill, Sr. Frank, or Frankie as he was called back then, grew up in Billerica, MA and had very fond memories of his childhood friends and neighborhood antics. He sometimes found himself in trouble for pool-hopping or using curse words. But really, we all know those neighborhood moms just had it out for Frankie. Afterall, he was an angel.

He graduated from Billerica Memorial High School and a couple years later embarked on his journey of proudly serving his country in the United States Coast Guard. This is where his passion for serving others began.

He joined the Peterborough Police Department in 1991 where he started his law enforcement career and served as an Officer until 2004. He spent four of those years as the D.A.R.E. Officer at South Meadow School. This was an opportunity he loved and thoroughly enjoyed. He was thrilled to take “Daren” the stuffed D.A.R.E. lion mascot out of retirement when his grandsons would come over for a visit.

He graduated from Franklin Pierce University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and felt that going back to school as an adult-learner to help further his career was one of the best decisions he ever made.

He served the Town of Rindge with honor and distinction from 2004 until his retirement from law enforcement in 2014. During this time, he was selected to represent New Hampshire in the final leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run which ended at the opening ceremonies of the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens. He ran through 40 cities in 10 days and referred to it as the experience of a lifetime. In 2013 he was celebrated as the Rindge Chamber of Commerce’s Business Leader of the year, being recognized for exceptional leadership skills and collaborative relationships with local groups and organizations, including Franklin Pierce University. Additionally, he served the Towns of Bennington and Hancock.

He joined Monadnock Community Hospital in 2014 and quickly felt at home where he was a valued and beloved member of the hospital family. He loved his work as Security Supervisor, valued his team and enjoyed supporting and helping hospital staff in any way he could. He walked through the hospital halls with a lot of pride and gratitude. He was so grateful for an opportunity to continue serving and being involved in the community he cared so much about.

Frank was kind and often had a smile on his face. He was hilarious, especially if you’re into “dad jokes,” with a fun-loving spirit and enjoyed lightening the mood or making others smile whenever he could. He was also very meticulous, from his precise handwriting to his haircare routine, he was always seen looking his very best. He had a deep love for his brand-new Toyota 4Runner and a strong dedication to Eddie Bauer apparel (who is not sponsoring this obituary). And if we are going to be honest, no one had a better-looking front lawn than Frank. It was lush, plush and perfect.

He loved schooner trips with his dad, visits with his mom, Bruins games with his daughter, time spent with his sisters, nieces & nephew, reconnecting as an adult with his cousins, Caribbean vacations, camping, biking, good barbecue & bourbon and campfires with friends. He loved to visit Kimball Farm for ice cream first and then dinner second. And Kogetsu was an absolute favorite! For sushi boats, good conversation and a scorpion bowl for two, ordered only with one straw.

Frank leaves behind his daughter Amanda Lynn and her husband Bob Dresser of Jaffrey, NH and his two grandsons; Carson & Finley, who brought so much joy to his life. His two sisters; Deborah (Glen) Perry and Dawn (Paul) Mastrogiacomo as well as 3 nieces and 1 nephew. His dear friends that turned to family and were always there for him, Kevin & Jennifer Brace of Peterborough, NH and John Whiting of Rindge, NH. He also leaves behind his estranged wife, Priscilla (Miller) Morrill of Peterborough.

Calling hours for Frank will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the Hope Fellowship Church, 16 Prescott Road, Jaffrey, NH 03452 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  A Law Enforcement walkthrough will begin at 3:00 pm, immediately followed by friends and family.  Parking will be in the church parking lot. Law Enforcement staging will begin at 2:30pm. Class A/Dress Uniform is requested.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 11:00 am in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH 03452. Frank will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Laconia in a private family ceremony.
