Fred C. Swett, 74, of Bennington, passed away peacefully at Bel-Air Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center on December 27, 2023. He was born in Peterborough on June 3, 1949, the son of Carl and Alice (Fenerty) Swett.
He was predeceased by his first wife of 38 years, Ruth, two infant sons, James and Matthew, his brother, Butch (Herbert) and his sisters, Leona and Carol.
Fred was a mason by trade, either for larger companies or himself. He was proud to assist in the restoration of the Union Oyster House in Boston along with several other high-profile masonry jobs. Fred retired from the State of NH Bridge Maintenance Division. He was also a Bennington Fire Department volunteer for 22 years (1971-1993).
Fred is survived by his wife Judi; his two daughters, Angela Attridge and her husband Tim, and Amanda Koziell and her husband David; two grandsons, Andrew and his wife Bryanna and Brian and his great granddaughter Natalie Rose; his step-son Fred Clough Jr.; his step-daughters Heidi Clough and Michele Masters and her husband Don; his step-grandson Logan Clough; his step-granddaughters, Kiersten Clough and Jaidlyn Goss and her husband Ryan; two step-great-grandsons, Sawyer and Bennett; their beloved Yorkie, Sophie, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Fred really enjoyed watching Gunsmoke, Red Sox games and exploring New England with his wife Judi. He was a lover of food and will be missed as her amazing food critic.
Visitation will be held on Thursday January 11, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH. A time of sharing will take place at 6:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Fred’s name to The Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446.
