Gary John Slamin, 66 of Francestown, passed away peacefully at his home on December 12, 2021. He was born in Natick, MA on August 11, 1955. He was the son of Charles and Norma (Hewitt) Slamin.
Gary was raised in Natick and graduated from Natick High School. He relocated to New Hampshire shortly after graduating, where he made his homes in log cabins and held various occupations, all centered around his undying love for the woods. A true creative, and a true outdoorsman, Gary instilled his same love for art and nature in his children and later his grandchildren.
Deciding to make a permanent home in Francestown, Gary, and his wife Sue, built a grown-up treehouse where they raised their children, as well as countless animals, on a modest farm called Squash End. Hard work and do-it-yourself were constant themes held in the many years they lived there.
Gary was truly one-of-a-kind: A local legend (depending on who you ask). He loved music and dancing, old trucks, good food, good conversation, and most of all, his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Sue; three children, Graham and his wife Cortney, Virgil and his wife Hannah, and Bess and her husband Dalton; his four grandchildren, Liam, Lennox, Nora and Harmony, with a fifth, Sunny, on the way. He is also survived by his sister Diane and her husband Rob; his brother Chuck; his sister Carolyn and her husband Patrick; his sister Lois and her husband Don; and his sister Susan and her husband Tim.
