Harold P. Stewart

Peterborough, NH Harold "Hal" Prince Stewart, 76, of Peterborough died on May 7, 2016 at Monadnock Community Hospital after a period of failing health. Harold was born in Salem, MA on December 10, 1939 the son of Harold A. Stewart and Thelma (Prince) Stewart. Hal was raised in Danvers, MA and attended local schools there. He owned and operated a small auto mechanic shop before going to work for his father at HA Stewart and Son in the air conditioning and refrigeration business. Hal spent the next decades working with his father and learning to master the trade until his retirement. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and the Sea Scouts, as well as a member of Demolay at the Maple Street Congregational Church, where he was a member growing up. He enjoyed fishing and loved animals, especially his dogs, Lindzie and Sam. He was very talented in Archery and won the State Championship in Archery in MA in 1958. He was an excellent welder and crafted many projects, including gifts for his family and friends. Hal's upbeat humor, intelligence and steadfast faith remained a constant beacon to him, as well as to those who knew and loved him. He was always helping and assisting those throughout life's many trials. Hal is survived by his loving wife, Nancy A. Stewart or Peterborough, his loving sister, Natalie S. Anderson of South Berwick, ME, his sister-in-law Wendy Chandler and his brother-in-law Donald Magoon both of Antrim; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Hal is predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Stewart Bowers. Memorial visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions in Harold's name be made to The Salvation Army Peterborough, c/o James Grant, 10 Sharon Road, Peterborough, NH.
