Harold J. Wilson, 70, of Bennington, died peacefully at his home, after a long illness, while surrounded by the love of his children, on June 29, 2018. He was born in Grasmere, NH on January 11, 1948, the son of Herbert Wilson and Evelyn (Rollins) Wilson.
Harold was raised in Bennington and made his home there his entire life, raising his children in the same family house with his former wife. He worked for the State of NH for nearly 40 years conducting bridge maintenance. On his retirement in 2005, Harold was the Supervisor for Bridge Construction Crew # 7.
Harold enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting and fishing along with making maple syrup. He was a craftsman by nature and spent time woodworking and restoring furniture. While at home there was always a Western movie or wrestling playing on the television. Harold also spent many hours in his garage working on a variety of projects.
Harold will long be remembered for his sense of humor, his love and generosity and the love he shared for his children and grandchildren.
Harold is survived by his son, Harold Wilson, Jr., of Bennington and his daughter, Tonia Maschi, and her husband Robert, of Doylestown, PA. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Hunter and Ava Wilson and Samuel and Katherine Maschi. Harold also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Harold was predeceased by his former wife and mother of his children, Christine Delay and his partner Bonnie (McDonnell) Dubrino, along with 4 older brothers and sisters.
Memorial visiting hours will be held on July 12, 2018, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH.
Harold always appreciated the soup deliveries from the Bennington Congregational Church, and in that spirit, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Harold’s memory to the Bennington Congregational Church, 5 Main Street, Bennington, NH 03442
