Henry B. Gordon

Henry B. Gordon, 87, of Peterborough, NH passed away peacefully, in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 4, 2025. He survived his wife, Sandra S. Gordon, who passed away on April 8, 2022. They were married for 55 years, and together they lived in Shrewsbury, MA for 45 years, raising their three children: Beth Schlesinger (married to Rick Schlesinger) of Aurora, IL; David Gordon of Harrisville, NH; and Mindee Gordon of Millbury, MA. In addition to his children, Henry leaves behind his two grandsons, RJ and Ryan Schlesinger of Aurora, IL; his sister-in-law Susan and her husband Stephen Kelsey of Chicopee, MA, and many cousins and family.

After graduating high school, Henry earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at Drexel University in Philadelphia. He continued his education at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where he earned his PhD in organic chemistry. Henry used his education to secure a role as lab supervisor for a city hospital and moved on to enjoy successful tenures at DuPont Chemicals, Liberty Mutual, and the Digital Equipment Corporation, as an analytical chemist. 

Henry remained connected to his Christian faith and would proudly fill in for church organists playing for parishioners at Trinity Episcopal Church in Shrewsbury, MA, St. Michael's On-The-Heights in Worcester, MA and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Westborough, MA. Henry very much enjoyed reading and talking about history. He also treasured family vacations to Cape Cod. 

Henry received paramount, compassionate care during his remaining days by attentive nursing staff at RiverMead Lifecare Community and staff from Home Healthcare, Hospice & Community Services, with his three children at his bedside.

Henry's family is determining the best way to celebrate his life and will share information when it's available. Memorial contributions may be made to one's favorite charity in Henry's name.
