Janet Grace

Peterborough, NH Janet Grace, 89, of Peterborough, died peacefully at Summerhill Assisted Living in Peterborough on March 1, 2014 surrounded by family. Born in Albany, NY on November 16, 1924, she was the daughter of Pearl (Fay) Fletcher and Walter Fletcher. Janet grew up and attended school in Albany, NY. She married Walter Grace in 1945 and moved to Wilbraham, MA in the early 1950's where she raised her family. She was married to Walter for 59 years until his death in 2004. She moved to Peterborough in 2007. Janet was one of the first members of The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Wilbraham, MA. where she was very involved in church activities and outreach. She spent many years traveling around the world with a dear friend up until the late 1980s. She had a deep love for animals and was a passionate defender of animals in need. She loved playing scrabble, doing crossword puzzles and reading. Above all, Janet cared for her family with unconditional love and support. She is survived by her children John Grace of Yelm, WA and Ellen Carter of Peterborough; her grandchildren Karyn Perry of Palmer, MA, Sara Fitch of Tulsa, OK, Jeffrey Grace of Olympia, WA, Elizabeth Sordillo of Peterborough, Matthew Sordillo of Francestown and David Holt of Troy, NY; her great-grandchildren Colin, Liam, Ethan, Gianna, Jude, Amelia, Alayna and Grace and her sister Miriam Schrodt of Troy, NY. She was predeceased by her daughter Susan Holt in 1999, her grandson John Grace in 1998 and her sister Ruth Usher in 2001. A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 15th at 1:00 PM at The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 20 Highland Ave, Wilbraham, MA. Interment will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the NH Alzheimer's Association, 5 Bedford Farms Drive #201, Bedford, NH 03110 or to the ASPCA, www.aspca.org.
