Janet A Young

Janet Austin Young, 79 of Hancock, died on March 17, 2025, at Monadnock Community Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Yonkers, NY on February 04, 1946, the daughter of William H. and Margaret G. (McKim) Young.

Janet moved to Ossining shortly after her father's death with her mother and sister, Carol (Young) Livellara. She enjoyed being involved in politics and was an avid volunteer for those she supported. She was a lifelong lover of all animals but cats and dogs held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed watching football and basketball and loved nothing more than settling in for a good game with a kitty on her lap.

Janet is survived by one niece, Kimberly (Michael) Copeland, and their two children, Erik and Lara as well as her cousins Barbara (Wilfred) Barriere, Joan (Francis) Gerosa and Marilyn Young and her husband Eric Erickson.

A graveside service for Janet will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. in Norway Plain Cemetery, 39 Main Street, Hancock, NH 03449.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Janet’s name to any organization committed to the humane treatment of animals.
