Jean Bruce Davidson Clark-Graney

Jean Bruce Davidson Clark-Graney, 92, of Hancock, died on June 18, 2014 at Summer Hill Assisted Living in Peterborough. She was born in Ottawa, Illinois on January 7, 1922, the daughter of Bruce Davidson and Marion Gapen Davidson.

Jean moved to New York City at the age of 7. She attended the Professional Children's School and The School of American Ballet. She was a professional Ballet dancer, having performed with American Ballet Theatre in NY during the early 1940s. She married her first husband, John Clark, in 1943. As the family grew, they moved from New York City to Waldwick, NJ where they lived for 10 years.

In 1961 Jean married her second husband, John Graney. They moved to Hollis, NH and spent the next 19 years their raising their family before John's passing. Jean owned and operated Pine Brook Studio of Ballet in Hollis during the 1970's and 80's.

She enjoyed everything about the outdoors. She loved gardening, astronomy, science and nature studies, and hiking. She also enjoyed nature photography.

She was a member of the Beaver Brook Association in Hollis and volunteered for the Peterborough Players and Monadnock Music.

Jean is survived by her five sons; Richard Clark and his wife Karen of Bellingham, WA; David Clark of Oroville, CA; Douglas Clark and his wife Emilia of London, England; Kenneth Clark and his wife Sheila of Mansfield, CT; and James Graney and his wife Heidi of Etna, NY; her five grandchildren Helen Clark, Adam Clark, Rebecca Clark, Evan Graney, and Peter Graney; and her former daughter in law Deborah Duffy Clark. She will also be missed by her lifelong friend, Gunther Schuller and many good friends and neighbors in Hancock and beyond.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday June 22, 2014 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH. Visiting hours will continue on Monday June 23rd at noon at the Hancock Town Library, Main Street, Hancock, NH followed by a Memorial Service at 1pm, also at the Library.
