Hancock, NH Jean H. Clason, 82, of Hancock, died on January 26, 2015 after a period of failing health, surrounded by her family. Jean was born in Whitinsville, MA on March 29, 1932, the daughter of Irwin Hanny and Nettie (Scribner) Hanny. Jean and her family resided in Keene for 20 years before moving to York Beach, Maine. Jean and her husband moved to Hancock where they have lived for 18 years. Jean was very active in her children's lives and had a passion for academics. She was a member of the Keene Elementary School PTA and the President of the Parents Association of Keene State College. She received the Granite State Award from Keene State College, recognizing her service to the College. She was also actively involved in representing the needs of families during the early development of Monadnock Developmental Services. Jean enjoyed needlepoint, counted cross stitch and knitting and received many awards for her craftsmanship. She loved playing the piano and was a student of classical music. Her many passions included completing crossword puzzles, gardening and reading a great novel. She was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Jean is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Richard C. Clason, her children, Amy Clason-Gilmet and her husband David of Hancock, Richard Clason II of Peterborough, and Spencer Clason and his wife Tracey of Keene. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Seth and Emma Clason as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Irwin (Dick), Fred and Ralph Hanny and sisters Ula Arnold and Audrey Hanny. A memorial service will be held Saturday January 31, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Peterborough United Methodist Church, 43 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH 03458. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Jean's name to Monadnock Valley Patriots Special Olympic team c/o NH Special Olympics, 650 Elm Street, Manchester, NH 03101 or the Monadnock Worksource PO Box 26, Peterborough, NH 03458.
