Jean R. Berry, 91, of Peterborough died on December 26, 2017 at RiverMead Lifecare Community after a period of failing health. Jean was born in Watertown, MA on January 2, 1926 the daughter of Ralph W. Rogers and Charlotte (Ellsworth) Rogers.
Jean grew up in Lexington, MA where she met her future spouse, Frank. They married April 8,1945 on Franks’ birthday so he’d never forget his anniversary. They went on to share 68 years together, first in Carlisle, MA where they built their own home, raised 5 children and started their own business, Berry’s Real Estate, in 1963. They were very active in the local community but looked forward to retiring to Antrim NH in 1985 where they lived for 30 years, fixed up an old farm house and restored their original 1966mustang. They enjoyed visits from family and friends and joined the local chapter of the Mustang club of NH as well as the local garden club. As a child, Jean also attended the nearby Camp Takodah and enjoyed swimming, archery and earned a marksmanship award.
Both Jean and Frank were animal lovers all their lives and many a stray found a happy home on their door step.
Jean is survived by her children: Gail Berry O’Neill and Michael O’Neill of NY, Eric Berry and Kate Casey of NH &FL, Roger Berry and Mary Berry of Colorado, Stuart Berry and Betty Berry of Georgia and Nancy Berry Tolleson and Jeffrey Tolleson of MA. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by beloved husband Frank S. Berry who died in 2013.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
