Jean B. Randle, age 90 of New Ipswich, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Ellen, on January 5, 2021. She was born in Boston, MA, on August 5, 1930, the daughter of Frederick and Ethel (Davidson) Brenton.
Jean was raised in the Boston area. After graduating from Newton North High School, where she met her future husband, Edgar M. Randle, Jr., she became a proud graduate of the Katherine Gibbs executive secretarial program. Jean set aside her career to support her husband’s calling to the ministry and to raise a family. That calling brought the young family to churches in Massachusetts and Vermont before they settled in New Ipswich in 1963. After being widowed at the age of 39, with four young children, Jean resumed her career, working over the years at several positions, including as a legal secretary at the Blodgett and Makechnie law firm in Peterborough, and, in the years before her retirement, as an administrative assistant at the Bellows Nichols Insurance Agency in New Ipswich. Jean’s passions were her family and her church. Her intelligence, compassion and strength were boundless.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Ellen Randle (and husband Chris), and Paula Book. She was predeceased not only by her husband but also by her daughters, Dianne Stevens and Donna Mosher. She is survived by her sons-in-law, Charles Mosher (and wife Anita) and Mark Stevens (and wife Beth). She was and always will be “Nana” to Aaron Mosher, Tana Stevens Leclair, Alexander Randle Lamothe, Nicholas Randle Lamothe, Stephanie Randle Lamothe and Christopher Wood; as well as to Chloe Leclair and William Leclair, her great-grandchildren. Jean also leaves behind the love of her later life, Don Rutherford, of New Brunswick, Canada.
Burial will take place in the spring in the family plot in New Ipswich. Services will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name to the Mason Congregational Church (UCC), 33 Valley Road, Mason, New Hampshire 03048.
