Peterborough, NH John Joseph Beecher, Jr., 69, of Troy, passed away on October 13, 2016 at Pheasant Wood Center in Peterborough after a yearlong battle with lung cancer. John was born in Claverack, NY on January 9, 1947, the son of John Beecher, Sr., and Kathleen (Robinson) Beecher. John was raised in Claverack, NY and attended local schools there. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he trained as an aircraft mechanic and continued to serve in this capacity for the next six years. John continued his career as an aircraft mechanic and worked for Eastern Airlines for 15 years. John loved watching sports including NASCAR and his beloved NY teams, the Yankees and the Giants. He enjoyed spending time outside, on his John Deere, and devotedly taking care of his lawn. He was a lover of cats and had many over the years. John was famous for his BBQ chicken and enjoyed making it for friends. He was also known to bring his homemade chicken soup to friends who were under the weather. John was a devoted friend and was well known and liked by many. John is survived by his partner of more than 29 years, Bonnie Lancey of Troy and her children Donald LaPorte, Jr. of Keene and Michele Gilman and her husband Mark of Antrim. He will also be missed by many, many friends and extended family. At John's request, there will be no services.
