John Stephen Phelps

John Stephen Phelps, 52, of Stoddard, passed away suddenly on August 12, 2024, while at work in Harrisville. He was born in Springfield, MA on September 18, 1971, the son of Timothy and Roberta (Linn) Phelps.

John was raised in CT and moved to NH after high school.  He loved the outdoors and was known for being barefoot and wearing a bathrobe and sweatpants wherever he went.  John worked for Martin & Sons Flooring for the last 8 years.  He truly enjoyed the people he worked with and what he did for a living.  When he wasn’t working, he was spending time with his kids or reading history or sci-fi books.  He also had a passion for movies and has an enormous collection of all kinds.  If he had music on, you could bet it was Pink Floyd!

John is survived by his father Timothy of Stoddard NH, his mother Roberta of Enfield CT, his sister Peggy and her husband Steve of Monroe GA, his eldest daughter Melissa and her husband Scooter of Clinton CT, and LeighAnne the mother of his daughter Isabella and son Ian; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and his extended friends that became family over his lifetime.

A Celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday August 17th from 1-6pm at 265 Mill Road in Stoddard.

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for John and the Phelps family.  We were not expecting for John’s life to be cut so short so soon. His departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and he will be forever missed by his entire family and others who loved him.
