John “Jack” T. Collins, Jr. 80 of Westerly, RI, passed away peacefully and surrounded by the love of his family at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, NH on March 4, 2022. He was born in South Kingstown, RI on November 29, 1941 the son of John and Alice (Charette) Collins.
Jack was a graduate of Westerly High School where he served as vice president of his class. He also co-captained and lettered in both Baseball and Football. Upon graduation of high school, he joined the United States Air Force. Jack was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 17 for over fifty years.
Jack had a passion for fishing and sports. He coached little league baseball for several years and after having given it up, he was asked to coach again because they were in dire need. He agreed to coach, volunteering his own time selflessly. Upon retirement Jack enjoyed fishing as much as possible. He loved spending time with his family, especially around the holidays, and watching as many baseball and football games as possible. Jack also had a great love of dogs and had many beloved canine companions throughout his life.
Jack is survived by his daughter Noelle Paradis and her husband Brent Paradis; his son John T. Collins and his wife Amy Collins; and his grandchildren, Emma Collins, Caleb Collins, and Benjamin Paradis. Jack also leaves behind his sister-in-law Sally Steadman as well as generations of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Michele (Conover) Collins.
A luncheon and celebration of Jack’s life will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM at Venice Restaurant 165 Shore Rd, Westerly, RI 02891.
