Joseph "Joe" Bobe

Joseph “Joe” Bobe (age 88), formerly of Shelton, Connecticut, passed away on September 29, 2023 with his family by his side at his home in Peterborough, NH.

He was born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, on July 7, 1935, the son of Leoncio Bobe and Juana (Rodriguez) Bobe.  At the age of 3, his family moved to Brooklyn, New York where he lived until he joined the Marines at age 17.  During his time of duty, he traveled by ship for a year through the Mediterranean and was then stationed in Africa.

He met the love of his life Arlene (Ciszewski) Bobe while on leave visiting his family.  Joe and Arlene were married on November 8, 1958.  They raised their daughter Lisa Bobe Alexay in Connecticut where they lived most of their lives.  Joe worked as a private investigator and eventually started his owned a security company which provided investigations, guard service and alarm systems.

Joe enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends near and far.  The couple recently moved to Peterborough to live with their daughter Lisa.  Here, Joe developed an interest in bird watching and enjoyed playing with their dog and two cats.

Joe is survived by his wife of 65 years, Arlene, his daughter, Lisa Alexay, both of Peterborough, NH, his three brothers (Leo, David and Ruben Bobe) and three sisters (Iris Nelson, Josie Hidalgo and Ruthie Velez).  He was predeceased by three siblings Ray Bobe, Olga Alonzo and Danny Bobe.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, October 14th, 2023, at 12:30PM, at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street in Peterborough.  A reception at the family’s home will follow immediately after the service.  Please let the family know if you plan to attend. A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be planned at a later date for friends and family from out of state.  Details to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s name to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
