Laurel Humphrey, age 62, of Peterborough, NH, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in her home on February 14th, 2021, after a brief illness.
Laurel was born in Needham, MA on November 1, 1958 to Kenneth and Shirley (Bruce) Fields. Laurel moved to Peterborough as a small child and spent most of her life here graduating from ConVal high school in 1976. She was the oldest of four children.
Laurel graduated from Oberlin College in 1980 with a degree in History. After college she spent time in New Jersey before returning to Peterborough. She briefly worked for Crotched Mountain and PES working with children, and later as the Assistant Inn-Keeper at the Hancock Inn. Most of Laurel’s career was spent as the Marketing Director for Audio Amateur Magazine in West Peterborough.
Laurel met her husband David Humphrey in 1991 and they married June 14th,1992. Together they purchased their family home and spent many years renovating it and raising their family there. She was a devoted mother to her three children and her grandchildren never missing a school event.
Laurel loved spending time with her family and friends. Laurel and Dave had a seasonal campsite in the Berkshires and enjoyed spending every weekend there in the summer for many years.
She was passionate especially about cooking and loved watching cooking shows in her free time. She also enjoyed cross stitching, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Laurel was predeceased by her mother Shirley who died in 2001. She is survived by her husband David of Peterborough, NH. Her children: Erica Wood (Alex) of Keene, NH; Morgan Humphrey of Westfield, MA; and Michael Duncan of FL. Also surviving is her father, Kenneth Fields (Anne) of Peterborough, NH. Her siblings: Margery Langevin of Hancock, NH; Bruce Fields of Dublin, NH; and Heather Marrotte of Marlborough, NH. As well as her grandchildren: Robert, Owen, Seeley, and Madison. In addition, Laurel is survived by many in-laws as well as many nieces and nephews.
Laurel will be buried in Peterborough NH and a celebration of life will be planned for later this year.
