Peterborough, NH Louise Fredericks, born on May 8, 1921, in Berwick, Pa, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2016 at her Summerhill Assisted Living home, just shy of her 95thth birthday. Singing, laughter and love from friends, family and caregivers surrounded her during her passing. Her husband, Kenneth, predeceased her in 2014. Wedded for 68 years, together they grew a family, served their community, advanced the art of bickering and cultivated countless friendships. Living in PA, NJ, CT and finally moving to Peterborough in 1976, Louise quickly ensconced herself in community activities. Her passions included gardening, reading, friends, family, saving things of sentimental value, the woods and the arts. She was known for sending thank you notes for just about everything and her beautiful hand hooked rugs. A member of the Peterborough Garden Club, she helped start the Peterborough Community Gardens, planting and tending the beautiful windowboxes around Peterborough. She was also instrumental in starting The Kelly Felgar Memorial Garden at MCH and The Elizabeth Yates Wild Garden in Shieling Forest. Please remember her when viewing these beautiful places. Among some of Louise's volunteering roles over the years were: Meals on Wheels, Girl and Boy Scout leading, Blood Drive canteens, MCH and starting a Community Supper with the Peterborough Congregational Church. Louise was a true matriarch, her influence extending beyond her four children to grandchildren, in-laws, friends, and neighbors. Her counsel was sage and unvarnished. Her inner-circle came with a lifetime membership. Though small in stature, Louise "lived life large", staying young at heart through bonds with friends decades younger than herself. Laughter was usually a big part of time spent with Louise, as well as happy tears. The Summerhill community of residents, caregivers, and folks from every department made a welcome and beloved home during Louise's final two years. Louise is survived by Ken and Wallis Fredericks of Scituate Harbor, MA, Richard and Allison Fredericks of Peterborough, Scott and Sheila Fredericks of Hayden, ID, Tracy and Robert Rokes of Francestown; daughter-in-law Deborah Fredericks of Peterborough and sister Kathryn Gregg of Concord, NH; grandchildren, Lyndsay, Nolan, Holly, Tyler, Eli, Talia and Ethan, and great grandchildren, Wyatt, Maddie, Brayden, Ilexa, Peyton, Caleb and Phoebe. A Celebration of Louise's Life will take place on July 21, 2016 at a time and location TBA. All are welcome.
