Marion C. Almeida

Peterborough, NH Marion Castle Almeida (nee Ball) died on February 24, 2015. She was born at Jamaica Hospital, Queens, NY on April 17, 1926 to Charles Ball and Anna (Castle) Ball of Floral Park, NY. Marion attended Sewanhaka High School, where she met her future husband, Frank Almeida. After graduating high school in 1943, she attended Washington School for Secretaries. She and Frank were married on July 10, 1948 at St. Thomas's Episcopal Church in Bellerose NY. Marion worked as a legal secretary until the birth of her first child in 1951. After that time, she devoted herself to caring for her family, which eventually grew to include three children. A talented painter, sculptor, seamstress, cook and crossword puzzle solver, Marion moved to Dublin, New Hampshire when her husband retired in 1988. Marion Almeida is survived by her husband, Frank; daughters, Wendy Almeida of New Ipswich and April Gregg of Washington, NH; son Steven Almeida of Chelmsford, MA; daughter-in-law Jennifer; two lovely grandchildren, Eleanor and Celeste; and her brother Robert Ball of Lewes, DE. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Marion's name to The Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446.
