Dublin, NH Marjorie Lillian (Eaves) Nielsen, "Marge", 82, died on March 29, 2015 at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Jaffrey after a valiant battle against Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Peterborough on March 25, 1933, the daughter of Ernest Victor Eaves and Ruth (Champney) Eaves. Marge was a lifelong resident of the Monadnock area, growing up in Jaffrey on the family farm before marrying her first husband, James McCarthy, and moving to Dublin. Marge played the pipe organ, which she and her daughters helped to install, at the Dublin Community Church for 20 years. It was there that she met her second husband, Elden Nielsen, who had joined the choir, later becoming the choir director. She and Elden, who predeceased her in 2012, enjoyed each other's company making beautiful music together while fishing, camping, traveling the United States, and playing and singing music throughout the Monadnock area. Marge was also a proud member of the American Guild of Organists. She shared her talent at the piano too, playing occasionally for the Dublin School, the Amherst Middle School where her husband Elden worked as the music teacher, the Keene Chorale, and giving piano lessons. She passed on her love of music to her children and grandchildren. Music was an important part of most family gatherings, often with songs sung around her cherished baby grand piano. Marge was also a Girl Scout Troop Leader and she often brought her troop to sing at area Nursing Homes and Rehab facilities. Christmas caroling was an anticipated annual event. Marge also had a great sense of humor, well known for the occasional gag gifts she loved to give for Christmas. Marge loved to garden and especially loved her rose garden that Elden designed in the shape of a grand piano, red roses being her favorites. She loved to share her roses with her daughters and her friends. Marge was a member of the Dublin Women's Club and swam in Dublin Lake every day that she could. She was a master of the dog paddle! Gone, yet not forgotten, although we are apart, her spirit lives within us, forever in our hearts: Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Fiske and her husband Timothy of Temple, Rebekkah McCarthy of Richmond, Regina McCarthy of Bennington, her step-sons, Barry Nielsen (Christina) of Lowell, MA, Kenton Nielsen (Carla) of Goffstown, NH, and Bradley Nielsen (Jean) of Lee, NH, and her sister Betty Nutting of West Suffield, CT. Her six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins will also miss her. A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 2, 2015 at the Dublin Community Church, at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at the Dublin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Marjorie's name to The Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633
