Francestown, NH Michael A.J. Ferencsik of Francestown, peacefully passed away on October 8, 2015 at Pheasant Wood Center following a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by family. He was born in Pert Amboy, New Jersey, the son of Stephen and Elizabeth Ferencsik. Mr. Ferencsik was awarded an undergraduate degree from Duquesne University with dual majors in English Literature and Philosophy. He received his MBA from Fordham University. A U.S. Armed Forces Veteran, he served with distinction as a Naval Officer aboard U.S. Navy destroyers retiring from the Navy with the rank of Lt. Commander. He was a member of the Army Navy Club of New York and the Navy League. Mr. Ferencsik worked in the international shipping business. He was Chartering Manager for National Bulk Carriers, and General Manager for International Ship Holding in Jakarta Indonesia and Singapore. He was Vice President and a Director of Western Marine Corporation for the Swiss based G. Vergottis Shipping Group. Mr. Ferencsik was an avid sailor who enjoyed competitive racing/sailing in regional land national regattas. He was a longtime member of the New York Yacht club and the Larchmont Yacht Club where he was a member of the Winter Race Committee, the Regatta Committee and the Nominating Committee for the Officers and Trustees. He was a member of the University Club of Larchmont. He was also a member of the American Clubs of Jakarta and Singapore and a member of the Rotary Clubs of Singapore and Houston, TX. He leaves behind his wife Michele, son Michael and wife Sharon, son Brooke and wife Tracey, and his beloved granddaughters, Kathryn, Emily and Grace. He leaves his sister-in-law Cecily Houston and her husband Ken; brother-in-law Rogers Hamel; and mother-in-law Elizabeth Hamel; as well as loving nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 11:00AM at Divine Mercy Parish, 12 Church Street, Peterborough. Reverend Monsignor Gerald Belanger will be the celebrant.
