Peterborough, NH Naomi A. Drury, an accomplished Peterborough artist, died at RiverMead Lifecare Community, on April 11, 2014 after a period of failing health. She was 88 years old. Mrs. Drury, who worked principally in oils and studied under Priscilla Sibley of Scituate, MA. for twenty-five years. She made her home in Massachusetts, where she was active in the South Shore Art Center of Cohasset. Her work was shown in Plymouth, Hingham and Norwell, as well as in Cohasset and Scituate. She later lived in Walpole for fifteen years and was a member of the Walpole Historical Society. A resident of Peterborough for the past twelve years, Mrs. Drury was born in Amherst, the Daughter of James Aytoun and Ruth (Carkin) Aytoun. After graduation from Amherst High School, she attended the New Hampshire School of accounting and the Manchester Institute of Arts and Science. She moved to Walpole from Scituate when her husband, Robert, retired from the Boston Globe as a news editor. She was also a former resident of Manchester and Bow. Before moving to Massachusetts, Mrs. Drury was employed in the accounting department of the Manchester Union Leader for fifteen years. She had also worked in the office of the Hatherly Country Club in Scituate. Although her first love was painting, she also enjoyed travel and working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Mrs. Drury is survived by her three sisters, Mrs. Marie Durant of Keene, Mrs. Nancy Smith of Keene and Mrs. Patricia Ingelstrom of Greenfield. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 11:00AM at St. Peter's Divine Mercy Parish, 18 Vine Street, Peterborough. Monsignor Gerald Belanger will officiate. Burial will be private for the family in the South Cemetery in Lyndeborough. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial contributions be made in Naomi's name to St. Peter's Divine Mercy Parish building fund, 18 Vine Street, Peterborough, NH 03458.
