Patricia Catherine (Kirby) Lee, 91, of Temple passed away peacefully on January 13, 2023. She was born in Waterbury, CT in March 1931, the daughter of the late James and Catherine (McMahon) Kirby.
Pat was educated at Saint Thomas Grammar School and Waterbury Catholic High School in Waterbury. She graduated from Saint Joseph College in West Hartford with a degree in Registered Nursing. She married Raymond Lee in 1954. After marriage, the couple lived in Baltimore, MD and Harvard, MA before moving to Temple in 1970. Pat worked for the Visiting Nurses as well as in a nursing home before raising five children. She and Ray celebrated 65 years of marriage shortly before Ray’s passing in 2019.
In addition to raising her five children, Pat was very active in the Temple Historical Society, acting as Secretary for many years. She was also a member of the Temple Drama Club, the Temple School PTA, the Friends of the Library, and the Ladies Aid Society. She enjoyed walking, reading, sewing, doing puzzles, and gardening, growing both vegetables and award-winning sunflowers.
Pat was extremely organized, and always remembered everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries, sending cards for every occasion that were written in her distinctive cursive penmanship. She was a wonderful wife and mother, and her family will miss her beyond words.
Pat is survived by her sons John (Katya Gohkban) of Newington, NH and Michael (Sara Prooth) of Peachtree Corners, GA, and her daughters Kara (Michael Grace) of Charlestown, NH and Suzanne (Wesley Harris) of Fairport, NY. She is also survived by three grandchildren (Christopher Lee, Anica Harris, and Mark Gohkban), a great-granddaughter (Rayah Lee), her sister Joan Blomberg, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond, her eldest son William, and her grandson Daniil.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday January 20th at 11:00 am at Divine Mercy Parish, 12 Church Street, Peterborough, NH. A visitation hour will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 am, and a luncheon will be held in Temple’s Friendship Hall afterward. Private burial will be in the family plot at Miller Cemetery in Temple.
