Peter G. Macy

June 25, 1940 — March 21, 2016

Sharon, NH Peter Grabon Macy, 75, of Sharon, died at his home on March 21, 2016. Peter was born Janusz Grabon in Krakow, Poland on June 25, 1940. Conditions after the war led to his adoption by his legal father, Nelson Macy Jr. Peter was raised in Southport, CT where he attended Fairfield Prep and Fairfield University. In his younger days he played football as defensive end in high school and college and was a regular on the slopes at Mad River Glen. He worked in finance and sales in New York and Connecticut before moving his family to Jaffrey, New Hampshire in the 1980's. Whether he was in a duck blind, a woodcock covert, on a golf course or in front of a grill he could pull out a proverbial phrase or get you with a well planned practical joke. You could count on him to leave you laughing, maybe a few dollars lighter and feeling a better person for it! Peter loved to entertain and was well known for his 2" steaks, kielbasa and other comfort food delicacies because he understood the pathway to the soul was through the stomach. Most importantly, Peter enjoyed gathering with family and friends; He had a way about him that endeared him to many over the years. Peter is survived by his wife Holly Macy of Sharon; Children, Sean Macy and his wife Holly of Dublin, Jordan Macy and his wife Lauren of Hampton, and Katherine Macy and her husband Benjamin Sharaf of Seattle, WA; Mother of his children, Suzan R. Macy, and their grandchildren Agnes, Clint, Huck, Brander, Louis and expected sixth grandchild in May. He also leaves his brother John Macy, his cousin Jan Buckner of Milford, CT and his two nephews John and Scott Macy. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Peter's name to Save the Children, www.savethechildren.org The family will make an announcement when a date for services has been chosen.
