PETERBOROUGH, NH - Roy Maki, Sr. age 88, born in New Ipswich, NH on October 5, 1934, passed away peacefully after a period of declining health at Pheasant Wood Center on November 27, 2022.  He leaves a long legacy behind and will be extremely missed by his beloved family.

He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (Anttila) Maki who passed March 9, 2019, and son, Randy Maki who passed February 27, 2021.

A loving father to his daughters, Deborah Hertel and her husband, Bob, Susan Lavoie and her husband, John, and Cindy Maki; his sons, Roy Maki, Jr. and his wife, Angel, Scott Maki and his wife, Pam.

A cherished grandfather to Joshua Hertel, Sara Champagne, Jeremy Lavoie, Nicole Taylor Maule, Jenni Demont, Kimberly Demont, Stephanie Coutu, Lisa Marois, Jeremiah Maki, Christopher Maki and Brianna Kukkula; and an adored great-grandfather to Alaina, Norah and Grayson Hertel, Colton and Landon Champagne, Beckett Lavoie, Joseph Hunt, Jessie Ann Marois and Victoria Kukkula.

He is survived by his sisters, Sylvia Lawrence and her husband, George, Ruth Brouillette and Naomi Roy; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Desrosiers and sister-in-law, Julie Maki.  Roy is also predeceased by his siblings, George, David, Wayne, Dorothy and Lorraine.  He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, as well as his second family at Pheasant Wood Center.

Roy was an ace mechanic for over 20 years in Fitchburg, MA where he managed several garages including Roy’s Mobil.  When he relocated back to his homeland in later years, he became a supervisor for a roofing firm in New Ipswich.  In his lifetime, he enjoyed spending time with his family, light-weight boxing, softball, stock and ice-car racing, and candlepin bowling.  He achieved countless trophies and awards which testified of his par excellence in everything he endeavored to undertake.  Over the past 20 plus years, he also took up antiquing and could be found wheeling and dealing at his favorite outdoor venue in Hubbardston, MA where he also acquired many friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew him in all walks of life.

His family is deeply indebted to all the staff at Pheasant Wood Center in Peterborough for the wonderful care he received.  He called PWC his home, and everyone there became his second family.

Pursuant to his wishes there will be a private family memorial service. He relived some of his favorite memories prior to passing.  Take a moment to relive yours and laugh as he did.
