Greenfield, NH Sheldon Carbee, 91, of Greenfield, died at the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Jaffrey, on January 6, 2014 after a period of failing health. Sheldon was born in Boston, MA on June 13, 1922, the son of Roland E. Carbee and Anne Elizabeth (Sheldon) Carbee. Sheldon was raised in Melrose, MA, where he graduated from Melrose High School. He graduated from Bowdoin College where he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Business. Sheldon served in The United States Army and was on tour during the Pacific Ocean theatre of WWII. In 1936, Sheldon's parents purchased their future home on East Road in Greenfield. Sheldon served the community as selectmen and deacon of the Greenfield Union Congregational Church. Both Sheldon and his wife, Beverly, ran Greenfield Industries and Carbee's Corner for fifty-five years until their retirement in 2008. Sheldon loved nature, gardening, growing Christmas trees and dearly loved his home. One of his last and most satisfying accomplishments was the placing of a conservation easement on his beloved land, through the Monadnock Conservancy. His goal was to conserve the property to be enjoyed for future generations of his family. Sheldon is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Beverly, and his children; Scott Carbee and his wife BJ of Francestown; Sherry Anderson and her husband August of Gardner, MA; Hunter Carbee of Bristol and his partner Marcia Davis. Sheldon will also be missed by his grandchildren; Elke Anderson, Erik,"Ozzie" Anderson, Justin Carbee, Alison Carbee, Chad Carbee and his 5 great grandchildren. Sheldon is predeceased by his sister Shirley Blackwood. A graveside service will be held in the spring. Jellison Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements. Robert Henry St. John, Sr., died peacefully at Monadnock Community Hospital on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 following a period of failing health. Robert was a World War II veteran, a rabid Yankees fan, and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Robert was a lifelong member of the Hancock Congregational Church. Robert was a deacon as well as a church sexton for many years.
Robert has one living elder sister, Olive Colburn of Florida. Robert is predeceased by one daughter, Celestine St. John. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sylvia St. John. He leaves behind 4 children, Christopher Jacobson and his wife Darlene, Robert H. St. John Jr., Melody Olivio and her husband Tim, and Randy St. John and his wife Karen. Robert leaves his grandchildren, Sean, Devon, and Stephanie Jacobson; Patrick St. John; Alex St. John and Jeremy Williams. Robert previously had lost a granddaughter, Patriciah St. John.
There are no calling hours. There will be a private committal ceremony for immediate family in the near future.
