Shiromi Aota Medico,81, of Peterborough, died suddenly at Monadnock Community Hospital, on January 22, 2014. She was born in Japan on November 20, 1932, the daughter of Kouichi Aota and Some (Kando) Aota.
She traveled extensively with her Army husband of 48 years, Peter Charles Medico, who predeceased her in 2006. They had tours of duty in: Japan, Virginia, Georgia, Hawaii, and California. In 1969, after her husband retired from the Army, the family settled in Tewksbury, MA. In 1985 they moved to Peterborough.
She enjoyed watching Japanese television programs and movies and cooking and sewing for her family and others. She also enjoyed shopping, bowling, knitting afghans, gardening, visiting with family, and loved going to the New England Casinos with family and friends. Shiromi found great joy in making others happy. She loved traveling and would visit Japan and Hawaii often. She thoroughly enjoyed corresponding with many cards and letters back and forth with her family both here and especially family in Japan. As a treat, Shiromi enjoyed going to MacDonald's and having a Big Mac.
Shiromi is survived by her loving son, Pete Medico of Peterborough, her sister Yoko Ekida of Japan, and her two brothers Akio Aota of Japan and Humio Aota of Japan, her sister-in-law Lucille Clark and her husband Douglas of Wilmington, Ma., her brother-in-law Charles Medico of Marlborough, Ma., her brother-in-law Joseph Medico and his wife Lorraine of California and her sister-in-law Louise Busineau of Andover, Ma. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in America and Japan.
A graveside service and burial will be held at the family lot in Pine Hill Cemetery, Peterborough, NH, in the spring.
