Stephen A. Kiburis, 64, of Peterborough passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at his home after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer.
Steve was born on September 8th, 1953 in Dorchester, MA son of the late Alfred and Marie (Flaherty). He grew up in Dorchester, MA and in Sullivan, NH. Steve graduated from Monadnock High School in 1971. As Steve was being drafted, he quickly enlisted in the United States Air Force. Steve was eventually stationed in England and served as an airline mechanic for F-111’s.
Steve returned to New Hampshire and Vermont and became a builder for several local construction companies. In 1986, Steve was disabled by a construction injury.
Steve enjoyed wood-working, auto-maintenance on classic cars (especially corvettes), being outdoors, and working-out daily at the Wellness Center. Steve met his wife Kelly (Kent) on Nantucket Island in 1982. They were married in 1984 and had two beautiful sons. Steve loved his boys, music, and going to Cunningham Pond. He was a very loving husband and had a very dry sense of humor.
Steve was predeceased in death by his youngest son, Rudy Kiburis on June 30th, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, his oldest son Andy (Alexis), brother Ken (Sarah), two sisters; Lori Tucker and Elaine (Don) Mosher, and several nieces and nephews. He also has two adorable grandchildren, Avery and Adam.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, January 6th, 2018 at the Union Congregational Church at 33 Concord St. in Peterborough. A reception will follow.
