Hancock, NH Sylvia Patricia St. John, of Hancock, passed peacefully in her home on October 10, 2014. Sylvia was the daughter of Harold and Eleanor Eastman and Ruby Bingham. Sylvia was a retired Registered Nurse who worked at many different local nursing homes, including Director of Nursing at Pheasantwood in Peterborough. Sylvia was an accomplished vocalist who sang for the church choir at the First Congregational Church of Hancock, as well as many churches as a guest soloist. She was very proud that she sang under the direction of Arthur Fiedler for the Boston Pops for fund-raising benefits for Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation in the 1960's. Sylvia is predeceased by her husband of fifty-seven years, Robert H. St. John who died in 2013 as well as her daughter Celestine who died several years ago. Sylvia is survived by her four children; Christopher Jacobson, Robert St. John Jr., Melody Olivio and Randy St. John. Sylvia's greatest joy was her grandchildren, Sean, Devon, and Stephanie Jacobson, Patrick St. John, Patriciah St. John (deceased), Jeremy Williams and Alex St. John. A graveside service will be held for family in the near future. The Family requests that in lieu of flowers that anyone interested may make a donation to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446, in her memory.
