Bennington, NH Wilson "Ed" Byerhoff, 56, of Bennington died unexpectedly on September 5, 2016 in East Port, ME. He was born in Fort Worth, TX on September 26, 1959 the son of Wilson L. Byerhoff and Virginia M. (Woodruff). His family moved from Texas when he was four years old. He was raised in Ridgefield Connecticut, where he graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1977. From there, Ed traveled to many parts of the world, either sight seeing with family or through his time served with the US Marine Corps and the US Navy. When he settled in NH, he found many passions in life including: the art of stained glass, contracting, and motorcycling. His latest passion was the love of "salt life" enjoying the ocean and enjoying his inner pirate through pirate re-enactment! He lived by his favorite quote, "I won't be insulted. I won't be wronged. I won't be laid a hand on. I do not do these things to other people and I expect the same from them". (John Wayne) He was employed by Sturm Ruger, where he had various duties, and was always a cheery personality and could always make people smile. Ed is survived by his wife Rona (McInnis) Byerhoff of Bennington, his son and granddaughter, Benjamin and Evelyn Byerhoff of Concord, his daughter, son-in-law and grandson, Jillian, Joseph and Lucas Almeida of Loudon, his wife's children, James Griswold and his wife Shelley of Bennington and Scott Griswold and his fiancAC. Liz Zaluki and their children Cadence and Eivin of Bennington. He is predeceased by both of his parents, his brother Craig and his late wife Janet Byerhoff (Normile). A celebration of Ed's life will be held on Sunday, September 18 at 1PM at the American Legion Post #59, Hillsborough, NH. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Ed's name to: American Diabetes Association 1701 North Beauregard Street Alexandria, VA 22311.
