Yvette Contreras

Yvette Contreras, 49 of Peterborough, passed away at her home on July 30, 2023.  She was born in San Antonia, TX on August 28, 1973, the daughter of Ramon and Sylvia (Cantu) Contreras.

Yvette received her early childhood education degree from UMASS Amherst and was passionate about education and service for the rest of her life, applying all she had learned towards her own two children. She was a huge supporter of public libraries and her work at the Peterborough food pantry, a point of personal pride. More than anything, Yvette was well known for her shock of thick white hair and love of laughter, just like her mother before her and her daughters after.

Those daughters were everything to her and they carry her joy into the world today. They are Rohyn Anne Contreras-Schofield, 21, and Irys Brook Contreras-Schofield, 16.

A Celebration of Yvette’s life is planned for August 18, 2023. Details to come.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Yvette’s name to The Epilepsy Foundation of New England of which she was an avid supporter.
